About Us
ECRI Institute (originally established in 1955 as the Emergency Care Research Institute) is an independent , nonprofit, health services research agency employing over 250 people internationally. We are NOT a commercial company, more like a charitable trust, providing healthcare information to hospitals, medical companies, government departments, researchers and healthcare providers in general.
Our mission is to promote the highest standards of safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness in healthcare to benefit patient care through research, publishing, education, and consultation.
ECRI Institute opened its European Office in Welwyn Garden City in May 1995 with the goal of serving the particular needs of UK and Europe. Established originally in 1955 as the Emergency Care Research Institute in Plymouth Meeting Philadelphia, it is one of the foremost Healthcare Research Agencies in the world.
ECRI Institute is a totally independent non profit research agency and a Collaborating Centre of the World Health Organisation for Patient Safety, Risk Management and Health Care Technology.
All of ECRI Institute's products and services are available through the European Office, but at the same time addressing the special requirements of the region. For example, consulting services to the NHS, accident and forensic investigations, conferences, exhibitions, reports, research, are all carried out and organised by our UK staff. Utilising some of the world's largest health related databases, assistance, support and guidance can be given to our UK and European clients at local level.
